DUNEDIN, FL – Edward Costa, husband of Marion L. (Collins) Costa, died at Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, FL on May 17, 2010.
He was 86.
Born in Dighton, MA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Perry Suite) DeCosta.
Raised and educated in Dighton, Mr. Costa later served with the Army Air Corp during WWII, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant as an aerial engineer.
He subsequently owned and operated the Costa Carpet Company, formerly of Taunton, MA for over 50 years before retiring in 1981.
Active in veterans organizations, Mr. Costa was past VFW commander of both Post 611 of Taunton, MA and Post 2188 of Middleboro, MA, and was as a member of Post 2550 of Dunedin, FL and DAV Chapter 11 of Clearwater, FL.
In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing.
Besides his wife of Dunedin, he leaves three sons, Edward Costa Jr. of Leominster, MA, Barry Costa and his wife Carol of Kingman, AZ, and Kevin Costa of Attleboro, MA; a daughter, Shirley Ann Costa of Dunedin; a sister, Annie Goulart of Taunton; four grandsons, Adam, Aaron, Jeffrey and Steven Costa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the grandfather of the late Kimberly Costa, and the brother of the late Joseph, Manuel, Alfred, and John DeCosta, Mary Amaral, and Frances Chartier.
Funeral Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, MA on Tuesday, May 25th at 11 a.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, May 24th from 4 to 7 p.m.
Burial will be private at the MA National VA Cemetery in Bourne MA.
