Mrs. Martha Emma Shinault Ring, age 100, widow of the late William Henry Ring of Siloam went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Northern Hospital of Surry County with her family by her side. Mrs. Ring was born in Surry County on October 21, 1909 to the late William Cornelius and Martha Bruner Shinault. Emma was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her Church family. Mrs. Ring was a life long member of Pine Hill Friends Church. Mrs. Ring is survived by one son Bob Ring and fiancé Patty Edmonds of Siloam; one daughter-in-law, Gaynell Ring of Siloam; six grandchildren, Joan and Dale Johnson of Dobson, Kim and Terry Pratt of Siloam, Sheila and Michael Creed of Ararat, Carrie and Travis Whitaker of Siloam, Matthew and Michelle Ring of Pinnacle and Emily and Adam Butcher of Dobson; 10 great grandchildren, Adam and wife Megan Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Laken and Luke Creed, Jake and Sam Whitaker, Meredith and Emma Ring, Cole and Chase Butcher; two great-great grandchildren, Andrew and Jacob Johnson. Mrs. Ring was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Billy Ring and one daughter-in-law, Mamie Jo Ring. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Pine Hill Friends Church at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Michael Thames and Rev. Billy Britt officiating with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 from 6-8 PM at Cox-Needham Funeral Home and other times at the home of Gaynell Ring.
