Beatrice (Gosselin) Moynihan, 90, died in Concord, MA May 17, 2010 surrounded by her family.
She was born in Manchester, NH August 12, 1919 to Adelard and Ida (Drouin) Gosselin. She lived in Needham, MA for 25 years before returning to Manchester where she lived until moving to Concord, MA in 2006.
She was a graduate of Manchester West High School Class of 1937 A where she served as secretary of her class. She received the DAR award in 1936. In 2007 she attended her 75th high school reunion. She graduated from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1941 and worked in her family pharmacy, which was located on Manchester’s west side. She maintained her pharmacy license in Massachusetts and New Hampshire until she was 86 years old.
She had been a member of the Manchester Quota Club since 1970, the Manchester Women’s Club since 2000, and The American Canadian Association since 2000. She was also a member of the Manchester Republican Committee, the Ward 2 Committee and worked at the polls at each election until 2006. Her first vote was cast for Wendell Wilke.
Bea was an avid collector during her lifetime of political and historic memorabilia, loved playing the piano, loved crafts and needlepoint, and knitting sweaters for all of her grandchildren. Above all, she loved her family.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert C. Dawson and her second husband, Maurice L. Moynihan. She was also predeceased by a brother, Raymond A. Gosselin.
She leaves her children, Marilyn Sarles and her husband Jay, of Wellesley, MA, Kathryn Shane and her husband Howard, of Acton, MA, Robert Dawson and his wife Peggy, of Sudbury, MA and Denise Smit and her husband Henk, of Peachtree City, GA; her grandchildren, Jessica Busiek, Dan Sarles, Liz Sarles Dias, Drew Shane, Katie Sarles Garvey, Caroline Dawson, Bobby Dawson, Danielle Smit and Lindsay Smit and by three great grandchildren, Skylar Busiek, Avery Busiek and Will Garvey.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, May 22, 2010 at St. Catherine Church, Manchester, NH. Burial followed in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Manchester, NH
