METHUEN — Winifred E. (Crotty) Guilfoyle, 79, of Methuen, died Sunday, May 16, 2010 at Wingate at Haverhill Nursing Center.
Born in Baltimore and educated in Malden, she was the daughter of Thomas E. and Elsie (Shaffer) Crotty. Winifred was a nurse and practiced for many years at area hospitals and nursing homes before becoming a homemaker and raising her children. She enjoyed quilt making, cooking was an avid reader and loved yoga.
She leaves her husband of 59 years, Maurice A. Guilfoyle of Methuen; she is also survived by her children, Stephen L. Guilfoyle and his wife Linda of Methuen, Maureen E. Silvers and her husband Tom of Kingston, N.H., David J. Guilfoyle and his wife Cheryl, Louise K. Guilfoyle, Priscilla L. Bartholomew and her husband Brian, all of Derry, N.H., and Christopher F. Guilfoyle and his wife Michelle of Epping, N.H.; one sister, Margaret Doucette of Dover, N.H.; 15 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Winifred was predeceased by her sons, Michael Guilfoyle and Maurice A. Guilfoyle III.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9 a.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow in the Elmwood Cemetery also in Methuen.
