Obituary

Mrs. Mary (Wilson) Mikulis, 90, of Methuen passed away on May 15. 2010, at her home in Methuen after a prolonged illness.


Mary was born in Methuen, March 23, 1920, daughter of the late George and Sarah Wilson. Educated in the Methuen school system, Mrs. Mikulis graduated in 1938 from the Searles High School, Methuen, MA.



After graduating from high school, Mary earned her Registered Nurse certification from the Lawrence General Hospital and during WWII worked at the Lawrence General and Lowell General Hospitals and also performed private duty nursing.



Mary was the wife of the late Francis A. Mikulis Sr. who died in 1981 and her survivors include sons Francis A. Mikulis Jr. of Parish, FL and Thomas J. Mikulis of Merrimack, NH, daughters Michaele and her husband William Vesey of Lawrence, Mary Anne and her husband James O’Leary of Pelham, NH, a sister Bernice and her husband Nicolas Deely of Alaska, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.



Mary enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She was a wonderful caregiver to friends in need. Mary built her life around giving to others. She also volunteered many years at the Methuen Senior Center.



Special thanks are extended to all at the Visiting Nurse Association and ultimately Hospice who participated in her care in her time of need.



In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to a charity of your choice. At the request of the deceased, a private funeral and burial will be held at a later date at the families’ convenience. Arrangements are by The Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen.
