Richard C. Heroux, 63, of Jillson Ave., Woonsocket, died Friday, May 14, 2010 at Landmark Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Suzanne A. (Pincince) Heroux. They were married on April 20, 1968.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Eugene C. and Marie Rose (Deguire) Heroux. He was a lifelong resident of the city. He was a graduate of Mount St. Charles, Class of 1964.
Mr. Heroux served with the Army in Vietnam. He was awarded the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars.
Following his service to his country Mr. Heroux was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Woonsocket for over 25 years before retiring.
Richard was the past president of the Woonsocket Jaycees. He was active for many years with the St. Agatha’s youth group. He enjoyed volunteering for the parish booth at Autumnfest and made many memorable batches of dynamites.
He was a loving husband and father and especially enjoyed being a grandfather.
In addition to his wife of 42 years, he is survived by three sons, Michael C. Heroux, and his wife Jane Adams, of Coventry, Marc R. Heroux of Woonsocket, and David S. Heroux of Wilton, Maine, a daughter Jennifer Lee, and her husband Jamal, of Woonsocket. He was the brother of Robert E. Heroux of FL, and the late Cecile Beaulieu. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Devon, Tyshona, Isaiah, Allannah, and Olivia, and his niece Janet Raymond.
His funeral will be Friday at 9:00 am from the Menard Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Agatha Church, Joffre Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery. Bellingham. Visiting hours are Thursday from 5-8 pm.
