Obituary

Noah “Noe” E. Dupont of South Lawrence, MA, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2010 at D’Youville Senior Care in Lowell, MA.
Noah was born in Central Falls, Rhode Island, March 29, 1908 to the late Philip and Rosilda (Boucher) Dupont. He was raised and educated in Greater Lawrence. Noah was a mill worker for many years, he worked for the Pullman Railroad for 9 years and also spent several years as a plumber with his dad. He worked as a mechanic along with his brothers at Dupont Motors for over 30 years until his retirement in 1972.
Noah was a member of Sacred Heart Church and St. Patrick’s Church, both in Lawrence. Within Sacred Heart, he was a member of the Sacred Heart League and the Holy Name Society and also a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Noah was also a charter member and President of the Lawrence Rod and Gun Club, a member of the Boy Scouts of America, member of the N.R.A. and a rifle instructor for the Boy Scouts where he graduated from Camp Perry OH as a rifle instructor. He was also a member of the League of Indian Nations. During WW II he served as an Auxiliary Policeman, and had acquired a very loud alarm, which his children often asked to hear as they were growing up. As he aged, he would regale anyone who would listen, with stories of his many escapades and trips. Germaine and Noah visited Alaska twice in their retirement and drove the Alcan Highway. On his 90th birthday, Noah received an honorary certificate of graduation from Lawrence High
School.
He is predeceased by his wife, Germaine I (Gosselin) Dupont, a son, Ronald Dupont, a grandson, Eric Shine and several brothers and sisters. He leaves his loving children, Claire Valcourt and her husband Bernard of Haverhill, MA, Andrea (Pauline) Dupont of Portsmouth, NH and Marguerite Mesiti and her husband Patrick of Chelmsford, MA, daughter-in-law, Barbara Dupont of Haverhill, a brother, Emile Dupont of Baltimore, MD, 2 sisters, Doris McGurn and Constance Boutin, both of Chandler, AZ, 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 13th, 2010 at the Arthur J. Scott Funeral Home, 298 S. Broadway, Lawrence. Friends and family will gather at Sacred Heart Church in Lawrence at 10 a.m. to celebrate a Latin Tridentine Mass in his honor. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to D’Youville Senior Care, 981 Varnum Ave, Lowell, MA 01854.
