Jeremiah “Jimmy” Camara Sr., age 84 of Swansea passed away May 16, 2010. Husband of Catherine "Gerry"(Connolly) Camara and son of the late John and Hortense (Amaral) Camara, he retired from the metal recycling industry. Jeremiah was a veteran of the US Navy in WWII and the US Army in Korea. He was a member of American Legion Post #302, Veteran’s of Foreign War Post 1522, both of Swansea and AmVets Post #60 of Fall River. He was an avid Red Sox fan and a parishioner of St. Dominic Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by children: Colleen Souza and her husband Steven of Assonet, Kevin Camara of Swansea, Jeremiah Camara Jr. of Fall River, Eileen Davey and her husband Michael of Cranston, RI, Kathleen Camara and her fiancée William Mello of Fall River; siblings: Hortense Rego of Fall River, Dolores Dupont of Tiverton, Hilda and Ernest Camara, both of Fall River; grandchildren: Stefanie Geddis, Eric Sardinha, Heather Souza, Rachel Shulenburg and Michaela Davey; 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Manuel Cambra, John Cambra, Edward Camara and Beatrice Correia.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Thursday at 10 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Dominic Church at 11 A.M. Interment in Vinnicum Cemetery, Swansea. Calling hours Wednesday 4-8 P.M.
