Obituary

Dorothea T. "Dot" (Lucey) Dillon, a 56 year resident of Melrose, died on Friday, May 14, 2010, at her home in Melrose following a 4 year courageous battle with cancer. She was 83 years old.

Dot was born in Boston on October 14, 1926. She lived in Malden for a short period of time and attended Chevrus Parochial School. Her family then moved to Wakefield where she grew up and graduated from Wakefield High School. Dot was a homemaker most of her adult life, dedicating herself to her husband and children and later on to all of her grandchildren. Dot was a member of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church Womens Guild for many years, she also taught C.C.D. at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish for many years. She was a member of Silver Singles of Melrose and volunteered her time at My Brothers Table in Lynn. Dot enjoyed traveling with the Most Blessed Sacrament Church Guild and knitting and crocheting for her grandchildren.

Dot is the beloved wife of the late Herbert W. Dillon. She is the devoted mother of Dottie Shea and her husband David of Melrose, Donna Ackroyd and her husband Dick of Billerica, Herbert W. Dillon Jr. and his wife Janice of Billerica, Denise Bennett and her husband Kevin of Ayer, Kathy Welch and her husband Colby of Maine, Doreen Dillon of Billerica, Eileen Smith and her husband Brad of Westford and Patty Dillon of Melrose. Dot is the loving Nana to 25 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandaughter. She is the beloved sister of Grace Jones of Florida, Bernadette Williams of Melrose, Margaret Lucey of Melrose, Sr. Marie Denis SP of Washington, D.C., Patricia Foley of Melrose and the late John Lucey and Francis Lucey.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dot's Funeral on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, Melrose, followed by her Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main Street, Wakefield, at 10 a.m. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m.
