Eugene P. Girard 84, of Grove St. died Tuesday at Mt. St. Francis Health Care Center. He was the husband of Juliette Rose (Gingras) Girard. Mr. Girard was born in Woonsocket a son of the late Joseph and Marie Louise (Coutu) Girard. He was a custodian for the La Salette Shrine for four years and then East Woonsocket School for twelve years before retiring in 1990. He had also worked as a floor man for Stamina Mills for fifteen years.
Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, Normand Girard of Havelock, NC, Raymond Girard and Eugene Girard both of Woonsocket, two daughters Jeannette Benoit of Belchertown, MA and Lorraine Guilbault of Woonsocket, a brother Roger Girard of FL, a sister Cecile Hickey of CA, three grandchildren, Matthew and Christina Benoit, and Guy Guilbault Jr, and one great granddaughter Mia. He was also the brother of the late Leo, Phillippe, and Lucien Girard, Rita Bouley, and Therese Haroian.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in All Saints Church, Rathbun St. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visiting hours are Friday 4-7 PM.
