William S. Cundall, Jr. 81, of 32 G.H. Wilson Rd., died Tuesday, May 11 in St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 59 years, Helen (Bowmar) Cundall, two sons Richard Cundall and his wife Amy of Douglas and their son Geoffrey Arnold of Hampton,N.H.; Robert Cundall and his partner Daniel Bross of Issaquah, Wash.; two daughters Gail Carpenter and her husband Steve and their daughters Chelsea and Elizabeth all of Mars, Pa.; Lynn Harris and her husband Richard and their son Daniel all of Spencer, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother Joseph Cundall and sisters Evangeline Cole, Elizabeth Burns, Jane Peterson and Patricia Goldberg.
Born in W.Boylston, he was the son of William S. and Ethel (Thompson) Cundall, Sr. and lived in Spencer for 55 years. He attended Worcester Public Schools and was a graduate of the WPI School of Industrial Management. He served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the Gaudette-Kirk American Legion Post 138.
Mr. Cundall was a foreman for many years at Jamesbury Corp. in Worcester until his retirement in 1981. He previously was Vice President of manufacturing at Worcester Taper Pin. He once was a member of the Spencer Planning Board. He loved travel, woodworking, singing in the church choir and most of all spending time with his friends and family.
He was active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts in Spencer and was the Charter President of the Spencer Lions Club. He was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 14 at 11a.m. in the First Congregational Church, 205 Main St.,Spencer. Calling hours at the J.Henri Morin & Son Funeral Home, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer are Thursday, May 13 from 5 to 7p.m. Burial will be private in High Plains Cemetery, Oakdale. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church Music Fund, P.O. Box 187, Spencer, Ma. 01562.
