Obituary

WORCESTER____Leon Linga, 75, of Worcester died unexpectedly, Friday, May 7, 2010. His wife, Teresa (Zegzdryn) Linga died in 1989.

He leaves two daughters, Anita Linga of Worcester and Grace Aloise and her husband Louis of Sutton; three brothers, Albin J. Linga and Boleslaw L. “Bill” Linga, both of Worcester and Alfonse Linga of Belarus; three grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsay and Philip, one great-grandchild, Isabella and nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by three sisters and three brothers. He was born in the Village of Kiwance, Town of Radun, in the Wilno area of Poland, he was the youngest child of Kazimierz and Emilia (Jodzis) Linga. During the Soviet occupation he was drafted into service in the Russian military. He has resided in Worcester since 1962.

Mr. Linga was a crane operator for more than 25 years for Standard Foundry and worked there until the company closed. He also worked many years doing home renovations and remodeling. Leon was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church and the Polish National Alliance. He enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. His kindness and generosity will sadly be missed.

The funeral will be held on Friday, May 14 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, with a Mass at 10:30 A.M. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Thursday.
