Worcester – Shirley A. (Bates) Marlborough, 60, of Worcester, died on Tuesday, May 11th in her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 37 years James Marlborough Sr.; her children Tracy Dacri and her husband Anthony of Auburn and James Marlborough Jr. and his wife Heidi of Worcester; four brothers Charles E. Bates and his wife Maureen and Robert W. Bates both of Alabama, W. Paul Bates of Florida and James E. Bates and his wife Kathleen of Oxford, MA; a sister Martha Tasse of Worcester; six grandchildren Reese, Abigail, Gavin, Braden, Chloe and Noah and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Marlborough was born in Newburg, NY daughter of the late Charles E. Bates Sr. and Melvina (Babcock) Bates and is also predeceased by a brother Thomas A. Bates.
Calling hours will be held in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. on Thursday, May 13th from 5 to 8 PM. Private burial will be held in Saint John’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Why Me Inc. c/o Sherry’s House 1152 Pleasant Street Worcester, MA 01602.
