Gilford, NH – Elaine C. (Hebert) Smith, 55, died on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May, 9, 2010 at her home, surrounded by her family and friends, after a lengthy bout with cancer.
Elaine was born September 25, 1954 in Manchester, NH to Richard and Anita (Coll) Hebert. She was raised in Allenstown with her three brothers Paul, Rick, and David. Elaine graduated from Pembroke Academy where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She also graduated from the Surgical Technologists School at Concord Hospital where she worked in the Operating Room. She also worked in the O.R. at the Athol and Worchester Hospitals.
An active member of the United Methodist Church, Elaine loved to sing in the Choir, lead crafts groups and host open houses at Christmas. She enjoyed going on cruises with her husband, family and friends. She went on a total of 26 cruises and additional trips, traveling throughout the world, all while maintaining chemotherapy treatments.
Her family includes her husband of almost 37 years, Dr. R. Lee Smith, of Gilford; two daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Chris Gamache of Deerfield and Cathy and Nathan Thorsell of Pittsfield; three grandchildren, Amanda, Megan, Cody and one more- Michael Gamache who is on the way.
There will be no calling hours.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 4:00pm at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 79 Clinton Street, Concord, NH.
