Obituary

Lee E. Dixon, 65, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Sunday, May 9, 2010 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 12 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with military honors. Rev. Allen Arowood, Jerry Young, Wayne E. Smith and Tim Young will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mr. Dixon was born April 24, 1945 in Sheboggie, Georgia to Josephine Brown Dixon and the late Thomas T. Dixon. He lived in Fitzgerald most of his life. Mr. Dixon served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War era as a Sonar Technician. He was owner/operator of Lee Dixon Music Company and a former employee of Shaw Industries and Modern Fibers. Mr. Dixon was a member of the Po’ Boy Opry, where he played the guitar. He also played with the Full House Band, Deep South Band and Risky Business Band.

Mr. Dixon is survived by his mother: Josephine Brown Hunt of Fitzgerald; sons: Joseph P. Dixon of Edinburg, TX, Stephen F. Dixon of Camp Lejeune, NC and Rollie Lee Dixon of Great Lakes, IL; daughter and son-in-law: Tina Dixon & Damon Daniels of Fitzgerald; step children: Machelle Dorrity and Michael “Buddy” Watson, both of Fitzgerald; 15 grandchildren and 1 great grand child; brother: William Dixon of Los Angeles, CA; sisters and brothers-in-law: Ann Jorgenson of Las Vegas, NV, JoBeth & Willie Touchet of Duson, LA, Emma & David Hines of Spring, TX, Sherry & James Watson of Mayo, FL and Dixie & Charlie Gilmore of Fitzgerald as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Hilton, Clifton and Shelvon Dixon.
