Obituary

Elizabeth E. (Herring) Sylvaria, 86, left this earthly home and entered into heaven on Sunday, May 9, 2010 to join her husband, the late, Ellsworth Sylvaria.
She was born in Hackney, England, March 23, 1924, the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Herring.
Mrs. Sylvaria was a Red-Cross worker during World War II when she met her husband Ellsworth, who was serving in the U.S. Air Force.
She worked as a nurses aide when younger and retired from Cape Cod Sportswear.
She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Fort Phoenix Post 2892 Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Cecelia E. Thatcher and her husband George of Fairhaven, Eileen Sylvaria and Cheryl Sbardella and her husband Tony all of New Bedford; a son, Ellsworth Sylvaria and his wife Violet of Fairhaven; ten grandsons, George Jr. and his wife Cindy, Bruce and his wife Jennifer, Thomas and his wife Marcel, Sean and his wife Jennifer Thatcher, all of Fairhaven, Anthony Sbardella and his wife Heather of Dartmouth, Kevin Sbardella of New Bedford, Ellsworth Jr. and his wife Debbie and Toby Sylvaria, all of Fairhaven, Dean Sylvaria and his wife Michelle of Fall River and Keith Sylvaria and his wife Dale of Acushnet; one granddaughter, Elaine Robichaud and her husband Scott Robichaud of Fairhaven; 17 great-grandsons, and 9 great-granddaughters; three sisters, Margaret Barnett and her husband Adrian, Flossie Lockwood and Violet Laker; four brothers, George, Bert and his wife Rita, Albert and his wife Linda, and Fred and his wife Rose Herring, all of England. A brother-in-law Arthur F. Sylvaria of Hanson, MA; 24 nieces and nephews, 23 great-nieces and nephews and 14 great-nieces and nephews.
She was the great grandmother of the late G Robby Thatcher III and the sister of the late Eileen Horton and Frank Herring.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 13th at 9 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Burial will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours Wednesday, May 12th from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Southcoast Hospice, 200 Mill Rd., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
