Obituary

Methuen, MA – William Loeschen, SFO, 66, died Friday May 7, 2010 at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Loeschen was born in Lawrence the son of William and Barbara (Gearin) Loeschen and was a graduate of Methuen’s Tenney High School before attending several colleges regionally.
Bills teaching career began in Lawrence at Holy Trinity School, and at one time taught at Saint Monica’s School in Methuen.
Mr. Loeschen was a Communicant of Saint Monica’s Church.
William (Bill) Loeschen was a member of the Secular Franciscan Order, and belonged to St. Francis Fraternity in Andover, MA. The Secular Franciscan Order is a community of men and women in the world who seek to pattern their lives after Christ in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi. This order of lay people was founded by St. Francis himself in the 13th century.
Bill made his permanent profession to the Gospel Life in the Order on April 23rd 1995. He was an active and faithful member of St. Francis Fraternity in Andover, and had a special love for the Fraternity’s ministry to the homeless, donating clothing and other necessities whenever he could. But most of all, Bill was known and loved for his loving and gentle spirit, always expressing genuine caring for others no matter what trials he may have been experiencing in his own life.
Survivors include his brother John P. “Jack” and his wife Carole Loeschen of Pelham, NH, one niece Kelly Loeschen of Methuen, one nephew John W. and his wife Tracey Loeschen both of Methuen and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock in Saint Monicas Church in Methuen with burial to follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery of Lawrence.
Friends will be warmly received Wednesday morning by Bills family in Saint Monicas Church Methuen from 10:15 to 11:00.
