Constance A. “Connie” (Rei) Silva, 80, a lifelong resident of Norton passed away on Sunday May 9, 2010 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late John V. Silva to whom she was wed for 52 years at the time of his death on July 11, 1999.
Born in Norton, MA on February 3, 1930 she was a daughter of the late Manuel G. and Augusta (Teixeira) Rei.
Connie grew up in Norton and was educated in Norton public schools. She was a retired Housekeeper having worked at Wheaton College in Norton where she was employed for over 25 years prior to retiring.
A lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton, Mrs. Silva enjoyed crocheting and was an avid Red Sox fan. She loved traveling, especially visiting family on trips taken to Madeira Island in Portugal.
Her family was the essence of her life and she always looked forward to the holiday seasons, especially Christmas time spent with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived her devoted children June M. Oliveria and her husband David of Norton, Deborah A. Mitcham and her husband Robert of Plainville, Mary R. Kuplast and her husband James of Norton and the late Johnnie V. Silva. She was the sister of Georgina M. Jolicoeur of Attleboro and the late Mary Abreu, Isabel Pestana, Florence Santos, Theresa Trainor, Cecelia Marshall and Clara Walczak. She is also survived by her cherished 9 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday May 14th at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St.(Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 1 Power St. Norton. Burial will follow in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday May 13th from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Connie’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to St. Mary’s Church Building Fund 1 Power St. Norton, MA 02766.
