Obituary

Salem: Raymond T. Dansreau, age 89, retired Salem Fire Inspector, died Sunday, May 9, 2010 at the Prescott House in North Andover, following a long illness. He was the husband of the late Ida M. (Doucette) Dansreau, with whom he had shared 49 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Charles and Angeline (Pelletier) Dansreau. He was a veteran of World War II and served with the Army’s ‘Merrill’s Marauders’ in Burma and India.
Ray first worked for Cushman Bakery delivering baked goods to residential and business customers. In 1952 he joined the Salem Fire Department as a firefighter and he retired as Fire Inspector in 1985 with 33 years service. Ray was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish of Salem.

He is survived by a daughter, Patricia M. Jakle and her husband Richard H. of Georgetown, a son, Donald R. Dansreau and his wife Janice A. of Middleton, a granddaughter, Suzanne Murray of N. Andover and Jill Jakle wife of his late grandson Brandon Jakle, 3 great-grandchildren, Aidan & Ella Jakle and Maeve Murray as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to his grandson Brandon Jakle, he was predeceased by a sister, Alice Gauthier and a brother, Wilfred ‘Bill’ Dansreau.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at 9 a.m., to be followed by his funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Hawthorne Blvd., Salem at 10 am.
Visiting hours: Tuesday 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
