Worcester/Westborough: Hazel Thelma (Strong) Piktialis passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2010 at the age of 98 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Rouses Point, NY in 1911 and moved to Worcester in 1919 where she has since resided. She was married for 46 years to Charles Piktialis, who passed away in 1975. Following graduation from Trade School, Hazel worked for many years as a master seamstress and stitcher for the David Clark Co. She was also served as an Air Raid Warden in WW II and participated in the church activities at St. Bernard's parish for many years. Hazel will be remembered fondly for her strong spirit, kind and loving heart, endless optimism, and her wonderful sense of humor.
Hazel is survived by her children Diane Piktialis of Brookline, MA and Donald Piktialis of Princeton, MA, daughter-in-law Christy Trauernicht, son-in-laws Dan Friedman and Richard Reardon, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Her daughter, Marlene J. Reardon, two sisters and one brother predeceased her.
