Obituary

Atkinson, NH- Raymond R. L’Italien, 80, of Atkinson for the last 13 years and formerly of Methuen, died Saturday May 8th at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill.
Born on April 13, 1930 in Lawrence, Ray was the son of Joseph and Adrienne (Bernier) L’Italien. He was educated in Lawrence and a graduate of Central Catholic High School class of 1949, and then received a bachelors degree from Merrimack College, graduating with the class of 1957. After graduation from High School, Raymond served his country in the Navy during the Korean War until being honorably discharged.
For 35 years, Raymond worked for Raytheon Co. in Andover as a Components Engineer before retiring in 1992.
Raymond was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an avid Boston sports fan , enjoyed playing 45’s and also loved going to the beach.
Ray will be deeply missed and always remembered in the hearts of his wife of 51 years Joan (McNaughton) L’Italien; his five daughters, Jean Hunt and her husband Daniel of Raleigh, NC, Judi Lawrence and her husband Mark of Plantation, FL, Marie Mack and her husband Jamie of Essex Junction, VT, Debbi Daigle and her husband Wayne of Salem, NH and JoAnn O’Shea and her husband John of Methuen. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Rachael, Ryan, Brett, Lindsay, Caitlin, Kelly, Patrick, Laura, Brendan and Megan, his brother, Richard L’Italien and his wife Joan of Tewksbury, sisters-in-law Claire L’Italien, Ruth McNaughton, Patricia McNaughton and brother-in-law, The Most Reverend William J. McNaughton M.M. He is also predeceased by his brothers, Roland, Robert, Rudolph and Rene L’Italien.
The family would also like to give a special thanks to all the nurses and staff at the Mary Immaculate Marguerite’s House as well as the Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, The Oxford Nursing Home and also the Merrimack Valley Hospice House for their kindness, compassion and care they showed to Raymond.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and Friends may pay their respects on Tuesday May 11th from 4-8 P.M. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence, St, in Methuen. A Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday morning at 9AM Our Lady of Good Counsel/ St. Augustine’s Chapel in Lawrence.
