Elise Burnum Loper, 80, of Brookfield died Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 10, 2010, at Brookfield Baptist Church. Rev. Gary Cadwell will officiate with burial to follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Brookfield Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 9, 2010, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Loper was born on July 30, 1929 in Mitchell County and was the daughter of Ernest Lee Burnum and Reba Louise Jackson Burnum, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Oliver G. Loper; and two brothers, Maurice Burnum and Ernest Burnum. She was a homemaker and a member of Brookfield Baptist Church.
Mrs. Loper is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Oliver B. and Margaret Loper of Tifton and James W. Loper of Brookfield; two sisters, Annette Sandifer of Brookfield and Hilda McKinney of Cairo; five grandchildren and their spouses, Alana and Adam Hampton, Michelle and Lee Boney, Seth and Rachel Dozier, Nick and Melinda Loper and Sharon Weldon; and a sister-in-law, Betty Burnum.
