Obituary

GUBSKI, Henry S.- Of Chelsea, May 7th. Devoted husband for 41 years of the late Josephine E. (Konop). Beloved father of Sister Barbara Ann Gubski, Sisters of Notre Dame of Ipswich and Betty Mikolajewski and her husband Daniel, Sr. of Chelsea. Cherished grandfather of Kristin Beth Mikolajewski-Breen and her husband Joseph of Quincy and Daniel Mikolajewski, Jr. and his wife Siobhan of Winthrop. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral from the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, CHELSEA on Wednesday, May 12th at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Stanislaus Church, 163 Chestnut Street, Chelsea at 9 o'clock. Visiting Hours in the Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-8 PM. Services will conclude with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Expressions of sympathy in Henry's name may be made to the Sister's of Notre Dame, 30 Jeffreys Neck Road, Ipswich, MA 01938 or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905. Late United States Army Veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart and member of the PAV Post 13 and St. Stanislaus Church Holy Name Society.
Born in Boston and growing up in the Mission Hill section of Boston, Henry passed away at the Melrose-Wakefiled Hospital on Friday morning at the age of 84. A carpenter by trade, he first worked for Lincoln Labs in Cambridge and later, for 37 years until his retirement in 1981 at Hanscom Air Force Base. A United States Army veteran during World War II, Henry was the recipient of the Purple Heart for service connected injuries. An active member of St. Stanislaus Parish, he was an usher for over 25 years, belonged to Holy Name Society and was a member of the PAV Post 13.
