Taunton – Maria C. (Farias) Melo, a long time Taunton resident, died May 7th 2010 at her home surrounded by her loving and devoted family. She was 73 years of age. She was the loving wife of Francisco Melo. She was born in St. Michael, Azores. She was the daughter of the late Manuel Farias and Roselina (Carreira) Farias. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Church in Taunton. Mrs. Melo was a housewife who helped raised her grandchildren and great grandchildren while enjoying every minute of it. She loved to cook. She always loved to make people laugh and was always willing to help anyone in need. In addition to her husband she is survived by one daughter Carmelia Melo of Taunton. She is also survived by two brothers Manuel Farias of Canada and Claudio Frias of North Dighton and two sisters Conceicao Resendes and Loudres Sousa both of Canada. She was the loving grandmother of two grandchildren Stacey and Jessica, also two great grandchildren Dominick and Layna. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Melo’s funeral services will be held Tuesday May 11th at 8 am at the Taunton Funeral Home 8 Crapo St (off Tremont St.) in Taunton. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony’s Church at 9am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held Monday 4-8 pm. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
