Freda P. (Shaw) Harrington, 94, of Plymouth, formerly of Whitman, died Wednesday May 5th in Plymouth. She was the wife of the late Miles E. Harrington.
She was born and brought up in Weymouth, attended Weymouth schools, until moving to Whitman at the age of 15.She was a graduate of Whitman High. She lived in Whitman from 1954 to 1969 moving to Sandwich until 2005, then moving to Plymouth. She also lived in many other states while her husband served in the U. S. Coast Guard for 24 years.
Freda was a Rebecca Lodge member since she was 18 years old and a 50 year member of the Mass Auxiliary Department of Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.
She loved to knit and later she was interested in charcoal drawings and took classes while living at Plymouth Crossing. Freda derived great joy from spending time with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren
She is survived by her children, Miles Harrington of Plymouth, Neil Harrington and his wife Susan of Hanson and Linda Kopcak and her husband Fred of East Sandwich; also 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 nephews and 1 niece. She was also the sister of the late Wesley Shaw.
A private graveside service will be held on Monday May10th. Relatives and friends may attend her visitation on Friday May 7th in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman from 6:00-8:00PM.Donations may be made in her name to the Charity of One’s choice.
