Elizabeth (Geldart) Penney, 99, of Canton, wife of the late Lyman Penney, died peacefully, May 4, after five years at the Hellenic Nursing Center. "Betty" or "Lib" was born in Framingham and lived in Stoneham, Stoughton, Brockton, Whitman and Canton. She was the daughter of the late Hanlan and Mary (Hoey) Geldart. "Bets" worked at Nichols' in Stoughton; Howard Johnson's and O'Keefe's in Canton and Volunteered many years at Cardinal Cushing Hospital. In her retirement she enjoyed bingo, scrabble, socializing and sharing her smile.
She is survived by her niece Sheila Martin and husband Doug of Easton, and her nephew Eugene Morrill and his wife Michele of Bourne as well as great nieces and nephews and many beloved friends including Barbara Lishinsky, Sandra Lingley, and a community of dear friends from Canton. Predeceased by brother, Eugene Geldart and sister, Katherine Morrill, and her nephew Fred Morrill.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the St. Gerard Majella Church, 1860 Washington St. Canton, 02021 on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 9 AM. Visiting Hours will be held prior to the mass at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton, from 7:30-8:30AM.
