Obituary

Whitman- Harold W. Reed, 95, died Tuesday May 4th at his home, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Shirley (Swanson) Reed.

He was born in Lowell, son of the late Jesse and Laura (Tabbutt) Reed.

Harold was a WWII veteran of the United States Army; he served during 1942-1945.

He has been a longtime Whitman resident, had lunch everyday at the senior center. In his earlier years he worked as a carpenter and maintenance man at the Commonwealth Shoe until his retirement.

Harold enjoyed bowling, traveling, the celtics, red sox, playing with wooden puzzles and loved making paper crafts. He taught the children at the Duval School to make the paper crafts. He also had a very green thumb.

He is survived by his 2 sons Donald Reed and his wife Aldora, Kenneth Reed and his wife Ann, all of Whitman, his sister Laura Garrido of Holland, his sister-in-law, Louis Reed, his grandchildren, Barbara and her husband Lowell, Debra and her boyfriend David, Kelly and her husband Ken, William and his wife Elizabeth, Patrick and his late wife Kerri and James, his great grandchildren, Collin, Tyler, Matthew and Amanda. He was also the step son of the late Cora (Bates) Reed and brother of the late Stanley and Earl Reed.

His services will be held on Saturday May 8th at 10:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, burial will follow in the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree, MA . Visitation will be on Friday, May 7th from 4:00-8:00.Donation may be made in his name to the Charity of One’s Choice.
