Methuen, Ma – Sister Florence Paradis, 88, died Tuesday May 4, 2010 at the Residence St. Claire.
Sister was born in Nashua, on August 5, 1921, the daughter of Ernest and Regina (Dube) Paradis. She was predeceased by her brothers Paul, and Jean Paul, and a sister Alice.
She attended Elementary and High School in Canada; she obtained her MA in French at Rivier College in Nashua, NH. In January 1941, she entered the Novitiate of the Presentation of Mary Sisters in Hudson, NH, taking the religious name of Sr. Marie-de-Massabielle. During her 67 years of religious life, Sr. Florence served her community and the Church teaching in various schools in the States of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine. She also gave 17 years of service at our “Marie-Joseph Spiritual Center” in Biddeford, Maine, before retiring in 2005, coming to the Residence Ste Claire, and in January 2010, to the infirmary.
She leaves a sister Mrs. Rita Couturier of Nashua and several nieces and nephews and cousins in Canada.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday afternoon at 2 P.M. in the Presentation of Mary Chapel in Methuen with burial to follow in the Presentation of Mary Cemetery also of Methuen.
Friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. at the Residence Ste. Claire 209 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
