FALL RIVER…John W. Rak, 94, died on Tuesday may 4, 2010 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Mary (Niedzwiedzka) Rak of Somerset, MA. John was born in Zodna Poland, where he studied to be a tailor. He served in the Polish Calvary during WWII. He was P.O.W. in Russia and Germany. After the war he settled in Manchester England, where he got married and later moved to the U.S. He worked at the Anderson-Little Co. as a tailor for 40 years and was a proud member of the AFL-CIO. John was a member of St. Stanislaus Church and St. Stanislaus Senior Citizens Center. In addition to his wife he is survived by his 4 children: Richard Rak of Pawtucket RI, Kristine Rak and Janice Rak of Fall River, Ted Rak and his wife Vivianne of Townsend MA and their 3 children Brian Rak and his wife Michelle and their son Derek of Fitchburg, Lisa Lanni and her husband Fred and their children Ashley, Rachael, Caroline and Mathew of Fitchburg, Kevin Rak and his fiancée Nina Floyd of Nashua, NH, several nieces and nephews. Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Friday at 12PM at the BOYKO MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 709 Broadway, Fall River followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1PM at St. Stanislaus Church, Rockland Street, Fall River. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours Thursday 4-8pm.
