William James Mackin, Former Edison Employee
Bill Mackin, formerly of Brockton, passed away after a brief illness on April 3, 2010 in Largo, FL. He was 82. Born in E.Orange, NJ on November 28, 1927, he was the son of the late William James and Alice (Greenan) Mackin. He was raised and worked in Brockton, retiring after 40 years of service at the Edison Co. He had served in the Navy as a CB. After retiring he spent his time traveling to and from Florida, eventually settling in Reddington Shores and Largo. He summered for many years in Dennisport, where he loved the beach. In addition to enjoying the sun & surf, he enjoyed boating, fishing, golf and traveling to Las Vegas and Atlantic City.
He is survived by his daughter, Suellyn Facchini of Plymouth, William Mackin and his wife Alice of W. Bridgewater, Theresa Mackin of Boston, Lawrence Mackin and his wife Kirsten of Baltimore. He is also survived by his sister Jean (Mackin) Curtin and her husband William of Brockton and his grandchildren Jennifer and her husband Steven, Ryan, Corey, Kasey and Sarah and great-granddaughter, Maggie and several nieces and nephews. He was the former husband of Mary Mackin McManus and the late Carol Mackin. Included in survivors is his longtime companion and caregiver, Donna MacIntosh of Largo, FL and her family.
Funeral Service will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (123) Brockton, Saturday May 8, at 10am with visitation from 9 to 10am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
