Obituary

Richard C. Sarro, Sr., of Medford formerly of the North End and East Boston, died Thursday at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 77.

Richard was born in East Boston, the son of the late Antonio and the late Jennie (Curcio) Sarro. Richard served on a tank crew in the Korean War. A North End resident after the war, Richard embarked on a long career in the construction industry with Local 22. Talented and dependable, Richard was often selected as a supervisor by many of Boston’s most prominent construction firms. Whether for Turner or Modern Continental, Richard worked on some of the areas largest construction projects. Richard was a devoted family man and his wife, kids and grandchildren were his first priority. A Medford resident for more than 30 years, He tackled any type of project to improve his home and provide for his loved ones. He was a friend to many and will be missed by all who knew him.

He was the beloved husband of Joanne (Luisi) Sarro. He was a devoted father to Richard C. Sarro, Jr. and his wife Franca, Camille Sarro Forziati all of Medford and the late Antonio Anthony Sarro. He was a loving grandfather to Felicia and Michelle Forziati and baby Marcella Sarro. He was the dear brother of Edward Sarro and family of NJ, the late Carmella LaMar, Angelina and Katherine Santilli, Rose Malerba and Josephine Davis. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews of the Pepicelli and Luisi families.

His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday, May 6th, at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours Wednesday 4 – 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
