Obituary

BEVERLY: Maryellen “Bama” (Weber) Smith, 69, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the Westfield Care and Rehabilitation Center in Westfield. She had fought a long and courageous battle with lung cancer.
Born on July 19, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Weber, Sr. and the late Eileen (Murphy) Weber. She lived in Lynn and Beverly most of her life. She also lived in Dorchester with her husband, William Smith for several years working at The Blarney Stone in Dorchester and at Filene’s Basement in Boston. Prior to her recent retirement, she lived in Beverly and worked at the Harborlight House in Beverly. She was a member of the Herman A. Spear Post #331 of Beverly and volunteered often at the Elks Club children’s Christmas parties.
Maryellen is survived by two sons, Donald “Skip” Martin, and his wife, Jodi and Thomas Martin all of Beverly; a daughter, Ruthann Martin-Rehrmann and her husband, James of Huntington; a brother, Joseph Weber, Jr. and his wife, Kerry of Bremen, ME along with two cherished nieces Kiara and Kelsey. Her most treasured time was spent as a grandmother to her grandchildren: Matthew, Reena and her husband, Nick, Emma, Shawna, Sarah and Jenelle. She felt blessed to meet and spend time with her one great grandson, Evan. She also leaves her first husband and longtime friend, Donald Martin, of Lynn, as well as many other close friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 8th in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 – 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Lung Association, 480 Totten Pond Rd., Waltham, MA, 02451 or Make-A-Wish Foundation, One Bullfinch Place, 2nd Floor, Boston, MA, 02114.
