Obituary

Daniel F., Dunn,77, of North Providence and Marco Island, FL formerly of Lincoln, died Sunday, May 2, 2010 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Mary C. (Killion) Dunn. They had been married for 53 years.

Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Daniel F. and Margaret J. (Houlihan) Dunn. He grew up in Attleboro, MA, graduating from Attleboro High School where he played both football and basketball. He graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1955 where he played basketball for 4 years. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. In 1955, he enlisted in the US Army and upon completion of flight school he was assigned to duty at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii where he flew for the 25th Infantry Division Aviation Company. Upon completion of his military obligation, Lt. Dunn was discharged and he returned to MA to work for the L.G. Balfour Company in the Fraternity Division covering colleges and universities in MA, CT, NY, VT and NH.

In 1973, he moved his family from Longmeadow, MA to Lincoln, RI when he transferred to the Commercial Division of the Company where he worked until his retirement in 1990.

In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves 3 daughters, Maureen M. Dunn of Smithfield, RI, Laura A. (Kevin) Harrington of Westport, MA, Suzanne M. (Kevin) Faber of Smithfield, RI as well as 2 sons, Kevin J. (Laurel) Dunn of Treasure Island, FL and Jeffrey D. (Michelle) Dunn of Scottsdale, AZ. He also is survived by his loving grandchildren, Daniel Weamer, Keegan, Katelyn & Erinn Harrington, Joshua Dunn, Ryan & Kylie Faber, Victoria, Brandon & Alexandra Duplisse, a sister in law, Addie Peterson of St. Simons Island, GA as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10AM in St. Ambrose Church, 191 School Street in Lincoln. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 50, 505 North Parkway, Memphis, TN 38101 .
