Raymond F. Brackett, 85, of Londonderry, NH died Sunday May 2, 2010 at his home surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Mr. Brackett was born in Buxton, ME on May 26, 1924, son of the late Lawrence and Julia (Waldron) Brackett. He had resided in Londonderry for the past 11 years, formerly living in Salem, NH and New Castle, PA. He graduated in 1949 with a Bachelors Degree from Colby College, Waterville, ME. Mr. Brackett served with the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. During the early 1950's he spent time as a minor league baseball umpire in the southern states. He retired in 1987 from Liberty Mutual in Boston, MA where he was employed as an insurance underwriter. In addition, he was also a member of the Londonderry United Methodist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Pamela Matzek and her husband Daniel of Windham, NH, Andrea Baldwin of Londonderry, NH, one son, Edward Brackett and his wife Nancy of Litchfield, NH, three grandchildren, Ryan Curtin and his fiance Chelsea Peterson of Sarasota, FL, Jesse Baldwin and Cody Baldwin both of Londonderry, three brothers, Harold Brackett of Manchester, NH, Dwight Brackett and Philip Brackett both of Maine, three sisters, Alice Ricci of Westbrook, ME, Margaret Brackett of Fryeburg, ME, and Helen Brackett of Los Angeles, CA, a son-in-law, Paul Baldwin of Londonderry, also numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Jasmine E. (Charley) Brackett in 1987.
Calling hours were held on Wednesday May 5, 2010 from 6 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A funeral service was held on Thursday at 10:00am in the funeral home. Burial with military honors followed in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem.
