Joseph T. Camara, age 84 of Somerset, passed away May 1, 2010 at home surrounded by his family. Joseph was the beloved husband of the late Beatrice (Medeiros) Camara and son of the late Joseph and Mary (Branco) Cambra. He was a retired receiver at Fulfex Inc. of Bristol, RI where he had worked for 33 years. He later was an attendant at the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War with the rank of corporal receiving the combat infantry badge, the Purple Heart and 5 battle stars. Joseph was a parishioner of St. John of God Church, a member of the Royal Travelers and VFW Post 5392.
He is survived by his children: Jere Camara, Jeffery Camara, Frank Camara, Doreen O’Gara, & Donna Nunes all of Somerset and David Camara of Lakeville; grandchildren: Jeffery & Melissa Camara; C.J. O’Gara & Nathan Steininger & several nieces & nephews. He was father of the late Janice Camara and brother of the late William Camara and Mary “Mae” Vadeboncoeur.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St. Tuesday 8 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church at 9 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Monday 5-8 P.M.
