Russello, Nicholas Joseph 70, of Jeffersontown, passed away peacefully on Friday, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brooklyn NY, he retired as an I.L.A. Stevedore, Standard Fruit Co, NYC Piers. Mr. Russello served in the Army National Guard during the Cuban Missle Crisis. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Brooklyn and ran for State Assemblyman in the 47th AD, Brooklyn. Mr. Russello was a Little League, High School, and College Baseball Coach at St. Francis College, Brooklyn and coached Spring Training at the Kansas City Royals in Florida. He attended St. Mary’s Star of the Sea School and John Jay High School (formerly Manual Training HS), Brooklyn . He spent his last four years in Louisville with his beloved wife Mary. Their four years together were full of love, fun, excitement and joy. He will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Sabrina Russello. Survived by his wife Mary Russello, nee Vanderhaar. His children Camille Pontrello (Tom),
Carmine Russello (Lisa), Deven Russello, Marrissa Johns (Jason), Jami Russello, Sarri Russello, Mike Vanderhaar, Anne Vanderhaar, Margaret Vibbert (Tim), Judi Vanderhaar, Liz Bryant (David), and Jimmy Vanderhaar. A brother, Amelio Russello (Maria),
sisters Nancy Castillo (Joe), and Mary Pace (Michael), as well as thirteen grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
His Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Noon on Tuesday May 4, 2010 at St. Edward's Catholic Church, 9608 Sue Helen Dr.
A gathering will follow the Mass.
