WORCESTER-Joseph A. Gagnon, 86, of Worcester died Friday, April 30th surrounded by his loving family in his daughters home. His wife of 47 years, Rita C. (Hackett) Gagnon died in 2007. He leaves a son, James E. Gagnon and his wife, Cathy of North Brookfield; a daughter, Christine Gagnon and her partner, Doris Kingsley of Spencer; two step-sons, William Laverty and his wife, Marg of Huntsville, AL and Alfred “Jerry” Laverty of Worcester; three brothers, William Gagnon of Worcester, Paul Gagnon of Virginia and Wilfred Gagnon of Bridgewater; two sisters, Marie Frietsch of Florida and Jackie Gagnon; three grandchildren, Shawn Gagnon and his wife, Jen, Lisa Ballard and her husband Scott and Brian Gagnon; 13 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Daniel Gagnon.
He was born in Millbury, the son of Augustine and Alice (Foshay) Gagnon. Mr. Gagnon was a machinist and foreman for many years at Harrington and Richardson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the 448th Bombardment Group. He received an air medal and a three oak leaf cluster for his service during World War II.
