Virginia Weatherly Deering, 82, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Thursday, April 29, 2010, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 1 at Frank Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Edward McIntyre officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 P.M. Friday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Deering was born July 13, 1927 in Bastrop, Louisiana to the late M.P. and Carmon G. Douglas Weatherly. She lived in Ocilla for the past 18 years from Vacaville, Calif. Mrs. Deering was a homemaker and a former employee of Case Tractor Co. in Ashdown, ARK, Turpin Lumber Supply and the tax assessors office in Bastrop, LA. She was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Sunny South Chapter # 12 in Bastrop, LA. Mrs. Deering was a member of Frank Primitive Baptist Church for 18 years where she sang in the choir. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was an inspiration to all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Susan Deering of Ocilla, Carmon E. & Jessie Watson of Vacaville, Calif. and Marty & David Shuman of Ocilla; grandchildren: Megan & John LoBrutto, Jessica Watson, Elizabeth Watson, Margaret Watson and Wade Shuman; brothers and sister-in-law: Edwin & Carolyn Weatherly of Bastrop, LA and Harold Weatherly of Shreveport, LA. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert E. Deering and a son, Edwin Scott Deering.
