Obituary

Wilhelm Gschwind, 72, a longtime resident of Derry, NH died Wednesday at the Parkland Medical Center. He was born June 7, 1937 to the late Wilhelm and Anna (Biehn) Gschwind in Rammstadt Germany before moving to the United Stated in the 1950’s.
Mr. Gschwind taught himself how to speak English and became a proud citizen of our country, July 4th, 2007. He was a member of the Merrimack Valley Kennel Club and loved to breed and show Doberman Pinchers. Upon his retirement, he opened his own machine shop in Derry. Wilhelm enjoyed carpentry and was known as a fine craftsman amongst those who had the honor of seeing and receiving some of his finished work. A hard working man, he always kept busy and enjoyed helping others in need.
He leaves his loving wife of over 25 years, Judy (Selg) Gschwind, his children, Christina Ewing of Frisco, TX, Mark Gschwind of Lake Worth, TX, Michael Gschwind of Frisco, TX and his step daughter, Michelle Pace of Derry. He also leaves his brother, Karl Gschwind of Londonderry, NH, 4 sisters, Marga Russel of Georgetown, MA, Marlena Jussif, Salem, NH, Gisela Gottselig of Franklin, NH, Ella Deichnan of Germany, 6 grandchildren, 17 nieces and nephews and a best friend and caregiver, John Hinds of Derry.
Calling hours were held on Sunday May 2, 2010 from 1-4pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St. Derry, NH. The burial was held privately at the New Hampshire Veteran’s Cemetery in Boscawen, NH at the request of the family. Donations may be made in memory of Mr. Gschwind to the Doberman Rescue Unlimited, 52 Tenney Road, Sandown, NH 03873.
