Mr. John H. Hess, a resident of Andover and beloved husband of Henrietta E. (Dawson) Hess, died on Monday, April 26, 2010, at the Wingate of Andover Nursing Center. He was 95 years old.
Born in Burlington, Iowa, on July 27, 1914, he was the beloved son of the late Vincent and Charlotte (Tye) Hess. John was a manager for Western Electric for many years and retired in 1977. He had been a member of the Merrimack Flyers and he also raised and raced homing pigeons. Mr. Hess was also a member of the Masonic Masons.
Besides his loving wife Henrietta, John will be sorely missed by his son John A. Hess of Andover, daughter and son-in-law; Marilyn and her husband Tom Brackin of Green Pond, New Jersey, six grandchildren; Laurie McGinley of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jonathan Hess of Bradford, Jennifer Schneider of Green Pond, New Jersey, Erin Huston of Green Pond, New Jersey, Sarah Brachin of Rockaway, Township, New Jersey and Jeaneth Brackin of Malden, nine great-grandchildren; Matthew McGinley, Nora Hess, Orly Hess, Scott Schneider, Emily Schneider, Hayleigh Huston, Brayden Huston, Colby Huston and Colman Brackin.
His Funeral Service was celebrated in the Free Christian Church, 31 Elm Street, Andover, Friday, April 30, 2010, at 10 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Calling hours were held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Thursday, April 29, 2010, from 6 to 8 PM. Burial was in the West Parish Garden Cemetery, Andover.
