New Bedford - Antone S. Correia, age 94 years, died Monday, April 26, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary (Machado) Correia. Antone was the father of Dr. Charles A. Correia of Colonial Heights, VA. He was the grandfather of Michael Correia, husband of Sharon and Stephen Correia, husband of Kelley and great-grandfather of Austin, Alex, Olivia and Kai. Mr. Correia was a brother of Mary Ormonde of St. Augustine, FL. and the late Eugenia Page and Charles S. Correia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Correia was a son of the late Leocadia (Silva) and Antone S. Correia. Antone was born in New Bedford and has lived in this area all of his life. He was employed as a weaver at Gosnold Mill. Mr. Correia also worked at Berkshire Hathaway Mills and as a driver for Cape News.
Mr. Correia’s Funeral will be Monday at 9:30 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 4 to 6 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
