Manuel R. Cunha, 61, of New Bedford passed away on Sunday April 25, 2010 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center after a long illness.
Born in Murtosa, Portugal, the son of the late Manuel and Maria (daSilva Rendeiro) daCunha, he lived in New Bedford for the past 25 years.
Mr. Cunha was formerly employed as a first machine operator for ATI Allegheny Ludlum for many years until his retirement.
He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union. He was a loyal patron of the Royal II Restaurant.
Survivors include a son, Andrew M. Cunha of New Bedford; a brother, Antonio Cunha of Fairhaven; a sister, Helena Cunha of Murtosa; a niece, Fernanda (Rendeiro) Serra of New Bedford; and many other nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Joaquim Cunha.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
