Rick DeBerry, 54, of Irwin County (formerly of Macon) died Saturday, April 24, 2010, at his mother’s residence in Irwin County.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Monday, April 26 at Spring Hill Primitive Baptist Church, Irwin County with Elder Mickey Harris officiating. Ray Vann will give the eulogy. Interment will be private. A Rosary will be held at 6:30 Sunday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla with Fr. Ray Levreault officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 following the Rosary
Mr. DeBerry was born January 27, 1956 in Irwin County to Joyce Rowe Satterfield and the late Charles R. DeBerry. After the death of his father in 1960, he was raised by his father, Durward Satterfield. He was a 1973 graduate of Irwin County High School. He attended ABAC and received his cosmetology degree from Ben Hill-Irwin Tech. Mr. DeBerry furthered his studies in Atlanta. A resident of Macon for 30 years, Mr. DeBerry was a hairdresser at Denver’s. He returned to Irwin County in December 2009. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Macon.
He is survived by his mother: Joyce Rowe Satterfield of Irwin County; brother: Gerald (Cathy) Satterfield of Irwin County; sister-in-law: Cheryl Taylor DeBerry of Ocilla as well as several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his fathers, Charles R. DeBerry and Durward Satterfield and a brother: David DeBerry.
