Earland Potter Chace, 88, of New Bedford died Saturday April 24, 2010 at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Elizabeth A. (Powers) Chace.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Phoebe (Whittaker) Chace, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Chace was formerly employed as a Class A trouble shooter for Bell System/New England Telephone Company for 38 years until his retirement.
He was a member of the Star in the East Lodge A.F. & A.M. He had been a volunteer for the Perkins School for the Blind for many years. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Betty-Ann Chace-Albernaz of New Bedford; and a grandson, Richard Earl Albernaz of Paxton.
He was the brother of the late Edna Chace.
A Masonic Service will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10-11 AM prior to the service.
