Maria C. (Bento) de Sousa, wife of the late Alvaro S. de Sousa, died at Silver Creek Manor in Bristol, RI on April 22, 2010.
She was 88.
Born in Villa Franca, St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Jaime and Exeolinda (Paiva) Bento.
Raised and educated in Portugal, she moved to the Taunton area in 1970.
She relocated to Portsmouth, RI eleven years ago and lived in Bristol for the past three years.
Mrs. de Sousa was employed by the Frank Noone Shoe Company for many years before retiring in 1968.
While residing in Taunton, she was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
She enjoyed painting and creating post cards.
Survivors include two sons, Paulo S. DeSousa of Portsmouth, RI and Nuno S. DeSousa of Cicero, NY; a brother, Arthur Ponte of St. Michael; and five grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Monday, April 26th at 11 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday, from 10 until 11 a.m., prior to the Services.
