CHRISTO Lillian (Kosta) formerly of Wellesley and York Harbor, died April 18, 2010 in Florida. Lillian recently celebrated her 85th birthday with family.
Lillian was born in South Boston in 1925, and was the middle child and only daughter of Albanian immigrants Pano Kosta and Athena (Demas) Kosta. She attended and graduated from South Boston High School in 1942.
During and after World War II she worked in the administration offices for Gillette Corporation. She married her husband Andrew Christo, of Dorchester, in 1951 at St. George’s Albanian Orthodox Cathedral in South Boston.
The couple lived in Wollaston before moving to Wellesley in 1958. Andrew died in 1994, and Lillian stayed in Wellesley until 1998 whereupon she moved to a retirement community in York Harbor, Maine. In 2007 she moved to Florida for closer care with her daughter Marsha.
Though never professional, Lillian was an inspired and accomplished dancer. Her love of dance and music was woven into celebrating life with her family and friends. Watching and dancing with her was pure joy. Lillian was also an accomplished soprano in St. John’s and then St. George’s church choirs for nearly twenty years, and loved Broadway and off show tunes and musicals. And as a talented seamstress, she made dance clothes, gowns, Halloween costumes, and whimsical articles for children and grand children. Later in life she painted landscapes in watercolor. Simply, she was a fun and loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Many family members and friends will remember her as an important, generous, loyal, and loving confidant. Her affectionate and motherly nature will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her son, Bradford D. Christo and his wife Hope Murphy and their son Walker of South Berwick, Maine; her daughter Marsha Elaine Christo, her husband Patrick Fallon and their children Spencer and Olivia and her daughter Kaia of West Palm Beach, Florida; a brother Peter Costa, husband of the late Dorothy (Shkliew) Costa of Braintree, MA, and his children Pamela, Michael, Nancy, Peter, and George. She was also the sister of the late Sotir (Sam) Kosta.
