Marshall Baker, 72, of Fitzgerald died Friday, April 23, 2010, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.
Funeral services will be 11 AM, Monday, April 26, 2010, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Ronnie Youngblood officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 Sunday night at the funeral home.
Mr. Baker was born April 15, 1938, in Winchester, Tennessee to the late Willard and Dorothy McCreary Baker. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Baker was a retired machine mechanic and had worked with Champion Sports Company and SWS Garment Factory. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting.
Mr. Baker is survived by his wife of 46 years, Helen Baker of Fitzgerald; son: Bruce (Laura) Baker of Columbia, SC; daughter: Lydia (Brian) Lowther of Tifton; 6 grandchildren: Jamie & Renee Baker, Amy & Josh Rodriguez, Kim Baker, Zachary Lowther, Ashlee Lowther, and Keyton Baker; 2 great-grandchildren: Jada Rodriguez and Logan Baker; brother: James Howard of Tennessee; sister: Juanita Williamson of Tennessee; brother-in-law and wife: Sam & Billie White of Fitzgerald; as well as several nieces and nephews including: Sammy & Ruthie White and Mike & Cindy Underwood, all of metro Atlanta.
