TEWKSBURY: John D. Regan, age 74, a resident of Tewksbury for 43 years, passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill.
He was the beloved husband of Elisabeth L. (Christ) Regan, with whom he would have celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on May 19th.
Born in Boston on May 17, 1935, he was the son of the late John J. and Edna (McCullough) Regan.
John was raised in the Greater Boston area, graduated from Boston Technical High School and attended Boston Architectural School.
In 1955, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country during the Korean War era as part of the 15th Combat Engineer Battalion at Fort Carson in Colorado until his honorable discharge in February of 1958.
John resided in Somerville until moving to Tewksbury in 1967.
Mr. Regan was employed for 38 years as a Civil Engineer by the Commonwealth of Mass until his retirement in 1998.
According to his family, John was an avid reader and had a passion for World War II European Theater military history.
In addition to his beloved wife Lisa, he is survived by two sons, James R. Regan and his longtime companion Ginny Rogers of Billerica and John E. Regan and his wife Susan (Hoyt) of Chelmsford; one daughter, Lisa M. Bruce and her husband Paul of Wilmington; six grandchildren, Paul, Anthony and Victoria Bruce and Jack, Michael and Patricia Regan; one sister, Edna Regan of Beverly; also many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Regan was the brother of the late Robert Sullivan formerly of California, Margaret Roussell formerly of Plymouth and Patricia Ottana formerly of Medford.
Calling hours Sunday, April 25, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral Monday, April 26, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William's Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. 9, Lawrence, MA 01843-9924.
