Louise B. Hunter, 98, died April 22, 2010. She was born in Pineview, Georgia on April 11, 1912, the daughter of James and Clara Barker. The family soon moved to St. George, Georgia, and she graduated from high school in Folkston, Georgia.
A child of the Great Depression, she lived with family while working in various jobs, and moved to Jacksonville in the late 30's. She meet Harry Hunter, and married him December 14, 1941. Friends joked, “Pearl Harbor fell one Sunday and Harry fell the next.” They were together over 56 years until his death in 1998.
She was a strong woman, ready to stand up for what she believed and stand between her family and friends and any threat from outside. She was devoted to her family. She was a woman of faith who constantly reminded people, “It's OK- the good Lord loves you.”
She leaves her two sons, Hal (Betty) and Steve (Patti), two granddaughters and a great-granddaughter, and numerous extended family.
Her life will be celebrated at 11:00 am Monday, April 26, at The Church at Argyle, 6823 Argyle Forest Blvd. Interment will follow in Riverside Memorial Park. Her family invites friends to visit at the church on Sunday afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to The Church at Argyle or to Northeast Florida Community Hospice in her memory.
