Obituary

William T Currie, 72, of Brockton, MA, passed away from mesothelioma cancer related complications on Wednesday April 21, 2010 surrounded by his loving wife Pattie, his children and family members at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. Bill was the son of the late Elmer and Leonora (Roberts) Currie; He leaves his wife Patricia McMahon-Currie of Brockton, MA and three children: Michelle Currie and her partner Stacia Cooper of Arundel Maine; William T Currie, Jr. and his wife Donna of Holden MA, and Kimberly A Terry and her husband Anthony of Worcester, MA, and six grandchildren: Brittany, Ryane, Kathleen and Patrick Currie and A.J and Matthew B. Terry.

Bill is a graduate of Brockton High School and he served in the US Army Reserves. He moved to Worcester, MA in 1968 where he pursued his career and raised his family before returning to reside in Brockton in 1991. Upon returning to Brockton, Bill met the love of his life Pattie and they lovingly cared for his parents until their peaceful passing. He will be sorely missed by all his cousins, the Roberts family, the McMahon’s, Lymans, Bakers, O’Briens and Solari’s.

Bill had a zest for life and laughter and no one expressed it better than he through his ability to tell a story on & off stage. He had a love for the stage and was well known for his many years as performer with Worcester County Light Opera Co, The Shrewsbury Players, Westboro Players, and Entre Actor’s Guild. Bill will be remembered for his numerous leading roles in some of his favorite shows, most notably: Jaques Brel; Don Quixote in Man of LaMancha, and Albin in La Cage aux Folles. Bill was also an avid lover and player of the game of golf.

Bill was a longtime supporter, coach and sponsor of the Jesse Burkett Little League for boys and girls in Worcester, MA. His company, W.T. Currie Construction, sponsored the girls’ softball division for four years. Bill was also a member of the Bertocci Club and Enterprise Club in Brockton, MA.

Bill worked for several construction related companies before ultimately reaching his dream of owning his own successful construction business from 1974-1990, W. T. Currie Construction Co, Inc in Milford, MA, followed by working for Tiger Home Inspections and then starting and owning another successful construction company, COMBEK Construction in Brockton, MA from 2000 to the present.

Bill, Grampie, was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and special Uncle Bill to many. His unconditional love for his family members and friends was constantly displayed through his sense of humor and he will be truly missed.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton, Monday, April 26, 2010 at 8am. Funeral Mass at 9am in Saint Edith Stein Church, 71 East Main St., Brockton. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours Sunday 2-5pm.
